About the Author

Victor Tantalo (1916-2011) had a long and illustrious career running his own accounting and management consulting firm before picking up a tennis racquet at the tender age of 50. His first encounter with the sport was humiliating and hurt his pride because he considered himself an accomplished athlete. He began to wonder what a 50 year old might do if he poured himself into the game with the enthusiasm of a teenager. The challenge became irresistible, and five years later, after a grueling regimen of daily lessons, practice and match play, he became a USPTA Tennis Pro. After another five years, in January 1977, Tennis Magazine wrote a glowing article about Victor called. "The Secrets of the Busiest Pro." At that time, he was booked eight months in advance. In 1980, he sat down to write BrainPower Tennis (formally known as the USA Tennis Course) and turned it into one of the most successful tennis instruction books ever written.
